  HIGHER NATIONAL CERTIFICATE - In Partnership With Virtual Learning UK  Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Sports & Exercise Science     

 
The UCS Higher National Certififate in Sport provides students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the roles of sport development and coaching, as well as practice managerial skills and knowledge that can be applied within a variety of sports industries.  
 
The programme provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of the roles of the sports coach and their application in practical work settings.  
 
 
WORK EXPERIENCE  
 
Throughout the HNC Qualification, students typically have two days of lectures and seminars, along with at least one day per week in a work placement.  
 
Our exclusive relationships with proffesional sports industry partners mean that we can provide a valuable advantage in these placements, and therefore give students a head start when applying for a job.  
 
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:  
 
96 UCAS Points plus GCSE Maths & English (Grades 4-9) 
or Access to HE Certificate  
 
 
PROGRESSION:  
 
On completion of the HNC, you can therefore:  
 
Opt for further study, in particular the Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Exercise Science  
Exit the Level 4 HNC into the sports industry  
Roles successfully secured by our alumni include: Sports Coach, Sports Development Officer, Teaching Assistant, Camp Supervisor, FE Tutor, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer, Team Instructor

OUR DEGREE PROGRAMME  

 
Our HND in Sports Science is ideal for those who aspire to work in the fitness or coaching industry. The two-year program provides learners with the opportunity to study a broad range of modules aimed at providing you with the knowledge and scientific understanding to help you succeed in your chosen profession. The course will be delivered by a blend of experienced lecturing staff that have a range of qualifications and vocational knowledge and experience.  
 
These include NGB sports coaching certificates, professional qualifications, PGCE’s, and experience of working with elite sport performers. Some of the staff are currently working towards Masters in the areas of Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition and Sport Science. This breadth and depth of skills allows the team to provide not only an inspiring academic learning environment but excellent vocational knowledge in the classroom. During the length of the course you will be offered extra opportunities to complete additional qualifications in coaching levels & gym instruction.

The UCS Higher National Diploma in Sport builds upon the opportunities provided by the Level 4 HNC, allowing students to apply their understanding of the roles of sport development and coachin in practical work based environments. Some of the focus moves into further developing and applying managerial skills within different sectors of the sport industry.  
 
The team of lecturers delivering this programme are all experts in their field and importantly maintain their connections with industry, including coaching and management of high performance sports teams and professional sports clubs.

BSC (HONS) in Sports Coaching & Management  
 
 
 
 
The BSC (Hons) in Sports Coaching (third year top up) is a direct progression route for students who have succesfully completed a Higher National Diploma in Sport. 
 
The course provides students with the opportunity to build on skills and knowledge obtained in the HNC/D programme.  
 
 
WORK EXPERIENCE 
 
Students learn in a variety of sports settings, and benefit from placement, which ensures they can apply learned theory to real-life sporting environments.

The BSc in Sports Coaching is designed to enable students to enter employment with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  
 
Students are encouraged to explore a range of careers in government agencies, sporting agencies, team management, proffesional sports clubs and local sports teams.  
 
As a newly qualified proffesional in the area of sports fitness and coaching, students can progress on to a diverse selection of roles.
