   BTEC LEVEL 3 NATIONALS IN SPORTS COACHING & DEVELOPMENT (VIRTUAL LEARNING UK)     

 
 
Virtual Learning UK has developed the content of the new BTEC Nationals in collaboration with employers and representatives from higher education and relevant proffesional bodies. In this way, we have ensured that content is up to date and that it includes the knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes required in the sector. 
 
The education curriculum and qualifications are delivered by Virtual Learning UK, who provide and employ all teaching staff and work in partnership with Sports Gateway. 
 
 
 
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 
 
This course requires five GCSE's at Grade 4 and above, including Maths & English. 
Any learners that do not achieve a Grade 4 in GCSE English and/or Maths, will be required to re-sit either GCSE or functional skills in either or both subjects. 
If you achieve a Grade 3 in your GCSE Maths and/or English, you will re-sit these exam(s) alongside your course. 
 
CAREER PROGRESSION 
 
Your qualifications you achieve will, should you want to, take you on to University. Sports Gateway offers a university degree through our partners at VLUK and the University of Gloucestershire. 
Alternatively, it provides progression into the Sport industry, including: Sports Coaching, PE Teacher, Personal Training and much more. 
 
 
 

   NCFE LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN SPORTS COACHING & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (SCL)     

 
 
Our NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Physical Activity offers school leavers a pathway into sport, benefiting from an outstanding learning and teaching experience which will push you to achieve your best.  
 
We will work closely with you to ensure that you recieve the best support to help you with your studies and to set you on the path to establishing yourself within the sector. 
 
 
 
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

   GYM INSTRUCTOR & PERSONAL TRAINER COURSES Active IQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor & Level 3 Personal Trainer     

 
 
The aim of the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor. 
 
 
 
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 
 
Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended. 
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. 
There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learner should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2. 
 
 
CAREER PROGRESSION 
 
This qualification provides progression to Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Instructing Exercise and Fitness, for learners who wish to develop and demonstrate occupational competence in gym instruction. 
Alternatively, it provides progression to Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training for learners who wish to further their knowledge and skills and become personal trainers. 
Learners may also progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy, where they will be provided with the knowledge and skills to practice sports massage alongside gym instructing in the health club environment. 
Learners may also broaden their knowledge and skills by progressing to Level 2 qualifications in Instructing Circuits, Exercise to Music and Aqua.
